Progress Report

All presently available rootstock material is being bulked up and mother plants re-potted with Plant Protection Ltd to supply 100 rootstock liners to Patullo’s Nursery by September/October 2011.

Cohort 1 Rootstocks:

Citation, Penta, and Krymsk 6 material will be available for budding in March 2012 with the first trees expected to be available for trials in 2013.

Krymsk 6 cuttings will be harvested during the winter to determine the optimum harvest period.

Cohort 2 Rootstocks:

Krymsk 2 and Okinawa material will be available for budding in March 2012 with the first trees expected to be available for trials in 2013.

Floraguard seed has been collected and cleaned, and will be planted out in the near future, with the first trees expected to be available for trials in 2013.
Gisela 5, Gisela 6, and Gisela 12 are now successfully growing in Patullo’s Nurseries Level 2 quarantine facility, with an expected release date in early 2012.
 

Cohort 3 Rootstocks:

Bailey, Lovell, Krymsk 1, and Krymsk 9 material is now being maintained ex-quarantine in New Zealand with additional Krymsk 1 and Krymsk 9 material to be planted at Patullo’s Nurseries budwood depository in the near future.

Wavit, Krymsk 99, Krymsk 5, and HBOK 27 (Controller 6) material will be placed in quarantine at Prosser, USA later this year before importing into New Zealand. This unexpected delay will necessitate a renegotiation of the completion date for Milestone 5 from 31/03/11 to 31/03/12.
