Welcome to Summerfruit New Zealand Online.
Summerfruit New Zealand is the national body representing the interests of all growers, marketers and exporters of the five fruits that collectively are labeled summerfruit. These are cherries, apricots, nectarines, peaches and plums.
The industry comprises approximately 350 growers and approximately 3,000 hectares.
The main growing areas are Hawkes Bay and Central Otago.
Seventy percent of all summerfruit produced in New Zealand is consumed within the domestic market.
The export market takes a further 25% with Taiwan, Australia and the USA being the predominant markets.
The remaining 5% of product is processed.
Summerfruit New Zealand is involved in a wide range of projects which are predominantly financed with funding from the Summerfruit Commodity Levy Order (2008).
