Focus on tree architecture and achieving high yields
The genesis for this meeting was a conversation with Bruce Mackay in which he said that up to
80 t/ha was possible for some canning peach varieties. Wow.
Meeting at 3.30pm, Bruce Mackay will be talking to the concept of high yields starting at 223 Paki Paki Road where there is plenty of off-road parking. From here we will go around the corner to a newer block of peaches on the corner of Crystal and Te Aute Road; the entrance is 500m on the right, past the intersection heading towards Havelock North. Immediately before the telecommunication tower. Again, plenty of off-road parking is available.
Next, we will drive to Blair Glasgow’s block on Longlands Road East which is 200m from the Te Aute Road intersection. Blair is refining his use of a Y trellis system. Park at the red sheds and use the roadside.
There will be a presentation from Will Hesterman from The Surveying Company, on what drones and the associated technology might be able to bring to our businesses. Also, on display will be collapsible bins from Kauri NZ Ltd.
Refreshments available afterwards.
Summerfruit NZ's Richard Mills will be hosting so if you have any queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch with him on 021 177 1337.
