Young Grower of the Year is an annual competition run by Horticulture New Zealand to find the best young fruit or vegetable grower in the country. Finalists are made up of the winners of the four regional Young Fruit Grower competitions and the winner of the NZ Young Vegetable Grower.
The winner of Young Grower of the Year will go on to represent the fruit and vegetable sectors at the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition where they will compete for their share of $50,000 worth of prizes.
During the day, finalists will rotate their way through four business and four practical activities. In the afternoon, they will take part in the Ballance Agri-Nutrients Leadership Panel and give their views on a contemporary leadership issue. Spectators are welcome.
The evening awards dinner is one of industry's most anticipated events. Here the finalists will present their speeches before the winners are announced. Further information on the event and tickets to the gala dinner can be found here.
