MRL and PHI changes for plum exports to the European Union

There have been changes to the chlorpyrifos MRLs and PHIs for plums exported to the European Union.

Approximately nine months ago, the European Commission decided not to renew their authorisation for the sale and use of chlorpyrifos. The effect of this decision was that from mid-April 2020, the sale of chlorpyrifos products in the EU is banned.

For most of our summerfruit crops this decision does not change our current suggested PHIs for exports to Europe, except for plums where a revised PHI of ‘Pre-flower’ is now suggested. This means that the new limits for plums will need to be considered when preparing the plum pest management programmes for the coming season.
