Packhouse registration with Korea reminder

Packhouse operators may remember the requirement for packhouses to register with the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety which came into force in 2016. This requirement states that all food products for human consumption intended for export to Korea must be sourced from premises registered with the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It is understood that any produce from unregistered packhouses will be refused entry to Korea.

Registrations are valid for two years and, given this timeframe, most packers will need to renew their registrations this season before exporting to Korea. New registrations and renewals can be completed by clicking here to go to the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety website.

Important: We have received early reports from some packing facilities that this website has changed and now requires you to create your own login details. The reports have also mentioned that the website is not very easy to navigate and it may take you a while to complete this process. We have asked MPI to provide some guidelines from Korea but this might take some time. In the meantime, we strongly suggest you start your registration sooner, rather than later, to allow for enough time to complete this process.
