Finding enough harvest staff is going to be challenging for orchards and packhouses this coming season. Summerfruit NZ is working with the Ministry of Social Development to update the horticulture webpage on the Work the Seasons website as a place where employers and potential workers can come together. We are also working with other agencies and councils to pool our resources and direct potential employees to Work the Seasons.
If you haven't signed up to Work the Seasons and listed your vacancies, you are strongly encouraged to do so as not only is it free to use, it is quick and easy. Increasing numbers of people are starting to look for work and are researching where work will be available and the type of roles being offered.
Don't forget that summerfruit is just one of a number of industries looking for seasonal staff so please get in early.
