Update from Richard Palmer 24 February 2021

Planted hectares declarations

This week the Summerfruit NZ team will be emailing documentation to growers about declarations of planted hectares, for the purpose of voting at the AGM. This process has been streamlined for this year to enable an email response where previous declarations have been made, and no changes have occurred.

I remind you that to vote on all matters (other than a motion to change these rules, to elect Directors, or to wind up the Society) the voting is on the basis of hectares and our Constitution requires a verified declaration of planted area to establish that voting entitlement. To ensure you can exercise your franchise, please do respond to the planted hectares request.

RSE worker update

This week, the tenth flight of RSE workers arrived into New Zealand and into quarantine, with a total of 1,544 workers having arrived, and 930 departed MIQ. A further three flights remain.

I wish to record my thanks to teams at NZ Apples and Pears and NZ Kiwifruit Growers, plus the immigration officials who have made this possible at short notice and have dealt with all manner of disruptions.
