Planar Canopy Field Walk – Central Otago

Plant & Food Research is hosting a growers’ field walk, looking at establishing young planar canopies in summerfruit.  This is part of the Sustainable Food & Fibres Futures (SFFF) FOPS project.

 

Tim Jones from 45 South Cherries will share his knowledge on how to establish young planar (UFO) cherry canopies and training techniques.  Plant and Food Research will present trial findings on how rain covers, bird netting and reflective mulch influence the light environment in planar cherries.

 

When: Friday 24 November 3pm – 5pm. Meet at 45 South Cherries Packhouse (3 Ord Road, Cromwell 9384

Attendees will then travel to the Pisa Holdings block together.

 

Food and drinks will be provided afterwards.
