Access for Summerfruit to overseas markets

New Zealand summerfruit has access to more than 50 export markets. The importing country phytosanitary requirements (ICPR) documents issued by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) have been reviewed to identify access conditions for New Zealand summerfruit (cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums and hybrids thereof). These are summarised in the table below. 

Where no commodity-specific measures were included in an ICPR the access conditions were based on the ICPR interpretation (e.g. summerfruit not listed in prohibitions and pest risk analysis not needed for new commodities).


ICPRs are available from https://www.mpi.govt.nz/export/export-requirements/icpr-importing-countries-phytosanitary-requirements/icprs-by-country/ and are not password protected. MPI is developing a searchable database (PIER) to replace ICPR documents. At present it provides a high level snapshot of requirements only, and we recommend you continue to refer to the country pdf documents.
