Final opportunity to vote - Summerfruit NZ

Final opportunity to vote

Growers have until noon on Monday 25 August to vote in the Summerfruit Commodity Levy referendum. You can vote by clicking here: Levy renewal - Summerfruit NZ

Thanks to all those growers who have voted already. It’s been great to see the number of growers who have voted steadily rise.

The referendum is an opportunity for growers to indicate to the Government whether or not they support the work of Summerfruit NZ.

After the referendum has closed, Summerfruit NZ will reflect the result in a paper to the Ministry for Primary Industries, whose role it is to make a recommendation to the Minister for Agriculture on the future of Summerfruit NZ.

If you have any questions about the referendum and what happens after it, please contact me on 027 461 6020.

RSE temporary accommodation cost increase

The horticulture sector is disappointed that the Government has approved only a minimal 2.5% increase for the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) accommodation cost recovery rate, effective from 18 August 2025.

The Government has made this decision despite receiving an independent report from the horticulture sector into what a fair and evidence-based accommodation rate rise could be.

Summerfruit NZ will continue to work with HortNZ, NZ Apples & Pears and NZ Kiwifruit Growers to advocate for policy settings that are fairer and more sustainable for both employers and workers.

You can read the detail of the Government’s decision here.
