Covid Alert Level changes

The change in Covid-19 Alert Level reminds us all of the undiminished threat from the virus. Fortunately, processes have improved since the previous lockdown enabling the improved flow of essential people and supplies across the Auckland borders.

This time the independent retailers (greengrocers) are able to remain open at Level 3, a crucial outlet for much of our fruit. Primary production and distribution remain essential services and continue, however, it is timely to remind ourselves of the obligations this places upon us, most crucially the use of the Covid Tracer app and display of the business QR code. This is essential to us continuing to have the freedom and social licence to operate, and ensures we minimise the risks from potential Covid contacts entering our businesses.

It is not just an obligation, but a legal requirement for each business in New Zealand to display the Covid Tracer QR code, however we are aware that some growers have not been displaying the QR code. This failure risks our freedom to remain operating, something we cannot afford to risk, either individually or collectively.

Alert Level 2 requires some specific actions to minimise Covid risk, in keeping with what we are all doing anyway.
